The Please Explain This to Me Friday Why Files...

WHY #1: WHY can't I post comments on many of your blogs? I think if you've switched your accounts over, I can't comment anymore. And I really do have charming comments for you. Well, semi-charming at least.

WHY #2: WHY can't I switch MY blog over to the new version?? It tells me I can. So, I go through all the motions, and then it tells me I can't. It says my blog might be too big? Really? I only have 266 posts. That's NOT a big blog. Puh-leeze.

WHY #3: WHY are the people in my city so mean, rude, and downright horrible during the holiday season? This is supposed to be a time of peace, love, and joy... and I've been cut off and/or tailgated by more rude drivers, nearly knocked over in a store by some biatch on a cell phone, had bad service with unpleasant-at-best servers at restaurants... more than at any other time of year. Happy Frickin' Holidays to you, too.... jerkfaces! I know people are stressed, but come on. Show a little kindness to your fellow neighbors, please.

WHY #4: Why is this story about a man saving dolphins with his super-sized long arms the most heart-warming thing I've heard all day?

WHY #5: Why... ummm... oh, just "why?" I might have to start a "Stupid Dumbasses" regular post just for people like this.

And that's concludes this week's Friday Why Files... this feature may or may not be back on a regular basis.

You can officially comment on my blog any time because I switched to wordpress.

othur-me: I'm soooooooooo tempted. If I ever have a day with some spare time, I may be switching.

libragirl: I know! I just laughed so hard when I read that part of the article!!

Ha! I second Libragirl's favorite line; this cracked me up also:

"The man told the woman that he had her husband tied up in the living room, although it was not immediately clear whether he actually believed that he did or was saying so just to scare her."

It's the "not immediately clear whether he actually believed that he did" part that kills me.

Brilliant.

I imagine this conversation at the Chinese aquarium.

Guy 1: Hmmm... there's some plastic in these dolphins' stomachs. We can't get it with surgical instruments. Does anyone know someone with really long arms?

Guy 2: Hey, I know a guy with really long arms in Inner Mongolia!

Guy 1: Give him a call and see if he will stick his arm down these dolphins' throats and into their stomachs.

Yeah, I'm having trouble with Blogger Beta, too. It's anNOYing.

I'm kind of picturing the Samurai sword-wielding burglar looking like John Belushi's old SNL character. Maybe that's where he got his inspiration. One minute you're tokin' up to some vintage SNL, the next minute you're on the ground under an SUV. Hee.

1) Paul found a way around the comment weirdness - write your comment, then "preview" it, then publish it. Silly Blogger. At least it's free. And I'm far too lazy to switch it again.
2) No fair. It really is way better. Try again - your blog cannot possibly be too big. (See "Silly Blogger" above...)
3) :-( This is the time of year I just close my eyes and wish for January. Hopefully not while driving.
4) I wonder if he was at all worried about all those cute little dolphin teeth. Cause it would suck to have the longest arms on the planet and then lose one.
5) "Using a helicopter with forward-looking infrared radar"??? Yeah, of course the sheriff's department has one of those on hand, because it's the frickin OC, baby!

metalia: yep... must have been a doozy of an acid trip! ;-)

-r-: can you imagine being on the receiving end of THAT request? Ummm... no, thanks.

lizgwiz: it's making me mad... I try to comment on people's sites a couple of times a week. Grrr.

tammara:

1)I'll have to try that. How odd!

2) I've tried somewhere around five times. I give up.

4)I'm sure he was hoping those TOWELS they used to hold the dolphins' mouths open were super-strength!

1. I'm having the same problem and at times it only works if I use my gmail account - weird!
2. A week or 2 ago I had the option and decided to wait. This morning when I post my "Friday Smile", the option wasn't there anymore... weird indeed!
3. Hubby always said that came Christmas time people drive like "goggles paysanos" (from the Flintstones) - they just go nuts!
4. Heart-warming yet weird!
5. They are EVERYWHERE!

Too bad if this feature doesn't come back, I enjoy it!

Why is the new blogger better anyway? I don't see what's so good about it.

It's sad when people get caught up in the stress and busyness of Christmas and lose the focus on each other.

The new beta blogger drives me bananas...but I have found that if I sign INTO my account BEFORE I go reading my favs [present company included] then I can post my comments b/c my name shows up already. If I am not signed in I can't just sign in after I write my post I will lose it...it is a heinous pain in the ass...but just remember to sign in first once a day to start posting comments....

You have to keep doing the Friday post....it is adorable and me and SKH got such a kick out of the long armed guy saving the dolphins from pool liner choking [remember what we DO for a living...lol]

Keep it up Grump and remember, you said the holiday spirit may be catching up to you. Let it catch you like the samurai wielding intruder, eh? [thank goodness she is okay tho']

Hugs and Merry Christmas!

I say leave comments anonymously if they'll let you and then just sign it as the GF - we know who you are.

Beta is just that, a beta is weird and clunky and buggy sometimes. It's taken about two months for my site to successfully migrate to Beta and work properly. My archives were a mess, links were broken - but things have settled down.

Maybe it'll be a Christmas miracle?

stinkypaw: I'll have to remember "goggles paysanos!" That's funny!

ludi: agreed. And it seems the closer we get to Christmas, the crazier people are. Sheesh.

skippymom: I've tried everything, and I still can't get it to work every time. boo I'll try to keep the Friday feature, then. :-)

alyssa: Tried that, too... it won't let me. BOO!

Beta is a very misleading name...

I was having commenting problems too (I also didn't sign up for the Google thing yet) but they seem to have resolved. As for the rude people: you got me!

#4: The story's super-cute, but the gangly long arms kind of kills some of the cuteness for me. Sorry, people with long arms.

My main blog is still the old blogger and the others are all beta.

The beta is nice for creating blogs. It's very easy.

I think blogger is still in the developing stage with beta.

Sometimes everything is smooth and wonderful, then I can't post at all, then sometimes I show up as anonymous and sometimes I post the same comment three times. It's crazy.

And Christmas is such a joyous time of year, not.

I read this pointer at http://grunt-ahoy.blogspot.com/
Maybe it will help. "I finally found out how to post comments on Beta Blogger, if they allow anonymous comments. You have to sign out of your old Blogger account first, then you can sign in as "Other", put your desired name in and your web address in. It works, but you don't get to have an avatar."
