Wasn't in Portland and I Wasn't In Heaven...

I’m not a superstitious person by nature. Black cat crossing my path? Pshaw. No big deal. Spilled salt? No, I’m not going to toss it over my shoulder… I’m more concerned for the poor schlump sitting behind me who might get salt in his eye if I do. I do believe in ghosts, but I’ve never seen one (as much as I love Ghost Hunters, I personally do not want a head-to-head encounter with a ghost).

BUT… (and it’s a big but)…

I’m really freaked out about this stupid 11:11 thing. There. I’ve said/typed it. Out loud. Kind of.

In my sidebar, I’ve kept a tally of how many times I’ve seen 11:11 on a clock, on a timestamp, anywhere. Counting today, I’ve seen it 23 times in just over a month. I know, I know. If you’re thinking about it, you’re more likely to see it. I know! But honestly… I’m not clock-watching just to see it. It actually surprises me when I do see it, because I am not expecting it.

This site has some 'spiritual' contexts of what 11:11 is all about.

Oh... and guess what the date is Saturday? Gah. Superstitious? No. Paranoid? Absolutely.

I know I'm making too much of this. I'm an idiot.

I'm not superstitious either, generally. But occasionally coincidences can get me a little spooked, when I can't come up with a rational explanation. Maybe you should lie low on Saturday, just in case. Or, you know, embrace it, and do everything you do 11 times. 11 cups of coffee, 11 bowls of cereal, 11 glasses of wine...

Don't be afraid.

If I was doing a Tarot reading for you and got all of those ones, I'd tell you good things were ahead: new beginnings, the start of great projects, exciting starts. Embrace the ones, baby.

You're a stronger person than I... I'm always knocking on wood and flinging salt all over the place.

othur-me: Ummm... I might get some dirty looks in my morning meetings. ;-)

lizgwiz: 11 cups of coffee? Eeek. Now, the 11 glasses of wine would be interesting. I usually get tipsy after about 2. ;-)

goldennib: yeah, that's the same thing that website said. Maybe I should just get over it already.

red: I know lots of people like that. My youngest freaked out this morning because she saw a black cat on the side of the road. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it had a white patch on its front. Wha? It just made me giggle.

Are you going to flip out on 11/11/2011?

You're not an idiot! I like the idea of doing everything 11 times. That won't be weird at all...

This is weird! Last night when I went to bed I looked at the clock and it was 11:11 and I thought of you! Coincidence?! ...I think not...

I notice 11:11 a lot. Doesn't freak me out, makes me think of you (you certainly don't freak me out!) Don't think of it as a bad thing. When you see 11:11, just think of all the people who are thinking about you. It's a circle of friends and you started it just by commenting on it in your blog.

alyssa: mmmm... probably. :-)

-r-: I can't even imagine doing everything 11 times today. eeek.

goldennib: I'm really trying to be positive about it! Thanks for the site.

stinkypaw: I think not. Not at all. :-)

mimaw: now, that's a great way to look at it!

Spooky - Check this out Grumpy -- Here in australia we have just celebrated remembrance day.

The 11th day of the 11th month at 11am we pause for a minute's silence to recall the end of WW1!

How do you feel NOW!?

We know where you live!

Alright, I tried to read the site about 11:11 and digitally encoded messages. By "tried to read" i mean the words were ok on an individual level, it was only when i tried to understand them in sequence that i would find my brain totally underwhelmed by the writers grip on reality... and the English language.

Though i did like this sentence in the midst of a paragraph about how "we are in truth holographic projections of thought consciousness.

"The X-boX allows people to have power over their reality and the game."

Ok, is the author saying that Microsoft have developed a portal through which we can reach a higher state of existence for only $130 and it comes packaged with Halo 2?

As my brother has taken to saying (and i level this only at the author of the 11:11 site) "This is reality, if you don't like it why don't you click your heels and go home."

DCMM: Are you still with us?

Wire: Microsoft is your mind. Give in to the inevitable. Resistance is futile.

I, too, think of you whenever I see "11:11." See, you have your own silent support group, lol.

And, um, we're all wondering where the hell you are since it's now the 13th...

rev: you're just trying to get me to freak out again, aren't you, revvie? ;-)

wire: you have little kids dressed like turkeys who watch you sleep? That IS spooky!

Also, congrats for LONGEST COMMENT EVER! ;-) I agree that the website I linked to was definitely lacking in English language skills. Or coherent thought skills. hahahaha

goldennib: yes... was just very busy this weekend. Sorry!

tammara: yay! 11:11 viewers unite! haha Oh, and I didn't realize until today when I had NO TIME TO BLOG that I might have freaked people out a little. Sorry. Tee Hee
