I've read more than I thought I did... plus there are some that I might have read and just don't remember. I read so much when I was young (Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, etc.), that I'm really appreciating re-reading them with an adult perspective.

The Rachel Ray cookbook is overrated. I have it and that whore can not possibly complete half of those meals in 30 minutes or less. I still love that bass-mouthed hack though, in spite of her flaws.

wow, you are one well read lady.

hannah: I can't stand to listen to Rachel Ray! My husband just wanted an easy cookbook to have around when he needs to cook. :-) I suppose I can handle that.

wire: I LOVE to read!!! I just didn't think that I had read that many women authors. Plus... I'm old. So, I've had more time to read than you have. haha

Wait a second. Who made that list? "Books by women"? That sounds like that's all that women have ever written! (I know you didn't make up the title. Don't let my misplacement bewilderment affect you.)

maliavale and MPB: the list came from Poppy Cedes, who got it from Living Juicy, who got it from Living Bookroom, who got it from somewhere else. Too many links to list... sorry. The one place I could trace it to as probably the blogger who started it is My So Called (ABD)Life. Apparently, the list was compiled from "several top book lists around the web." Follow So Called's link to view those lists.

*whew* That probably the most difficult comment I've ever had to type! Too much work! ;-)

Ahh, good old Judy Blume. I have fond memories of sneaking her books out of the library because my mom wouldn't let me read them.

nabbalicious: didn't we all. I even snuck some of her *ahem* "adult" novels. Wow. What an education THAT was.

Random side note:

I have a friend who sings lead in a band. The band used to be called "The Memes". Everyone always used to mispronounce it and call them "The Mee-Mees." And that made her mad.

So she changed the name of thet band to "North."

I preferred "The Mee-Mees" above all else.

I read Yellow Raft, Floating in Blue Water," and I'm pretty sure that it was written by a women.

Other than that:
Wrinkle in Time
To Kill a Mockingbird

hannah: The "Mee-Mees" would be much cooler than North. Maybe WE should start a band called the "Mee-Mees!"

margus: well, that's a good start!

Ha! DCMM, I remember reading "Wifey" with a friend and being alternately horrified and fascinated!
