Ummm.... I think... No. Just No.

The front page of Yahoo News today shows a photo of the new trend for men. Leggings. Yes, you heard me correctly. I said "LEGGINGS."

Let's discuss the awfulness that leggings already are... in the 80s, under the requisite long sparkly, pastel sweater or hideous neon sweatshirt, leggings served their purpose. Now, not so much.

I will admit, that for young girls (emphasis on YOUNG), worn under a mini-skirt, I quite approve of leggings. Maybe that's because I have young teenage girls in the home, and I prefer that they not pull a Britney and expose any lady knickknacks, if you know what I mean.

Young girls in mini skirts-- you may wear leggings. Everyone else-- No. Men? Oh, HELL NO! For all that is sacred, please! NO! NO! NO!

Note the model at left. Is there anything remotely attractive about this? Can you imagine all the awful places these leggings could take us? Let's just nip it in the bud right now and boycott. Loudly.

Ha! Man leggings get a definite HELL NO from me.

I think this is made worse by him just wearing it for all the world to see. I'd probably say no to them myself, but i'm sure if they're put on under other pants to keep peoples legs warm, so then no one can see them then people would be none the wiser, because really, who would wear something that looks that horrible in full view of people?? :S

You beat me to the punch...I was gonna post a "hell no" about this.

Men should not wear anything that is that form fitting unless it is under clothes where no one can see. Hell, even in medieval times, squires and such had the common sense to wear their leggings under their leather pants.

If you look real close, the model does appear to be somewhat upset that he is wearing leggings. Like maybe he drew the short straw backstage.

Also, why the hell are they maroon? Would you even where maroon pants with that ensemble...let alone tights?

I give it a resounding...WTF?

Men leggings? Really? Aren't those like long cycling shorts? A little too tight for my taste!

MEGGINGS?! Sweet Jebus, hell to the no...

(If I may be so bold as to comment on stuff in your sidebar here as well, congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome!)

-r-: right on! What about H? Did he like them? haha

paul: right... and that would be the difference between thermal underwear and leggings. Leggings are meant to be seen. Unfortunately.

jaek: you are so hilarious! Maroon indeed. haha And I agree with the short straw-look. He's not happy.

aimless: glad to see you back! Ewwww! is correct.

margus: well, I guess YOU can wear them... but only with neon sweatshirts that go down to your knees. M'kay?

paul: the people, the people, the people! Sounds like Sybil... did you ever see that movie?

stinkypaw: yes, similar to cycling shorts, but not as shiny. haha!

metalia: MEGGINGS? HA HA HA HA! That's a great term. You are ever so witty! Oh, and be bold whenever you want to compliment me on weight loss. :-) Thanks!

aimless: mine, too!

gabrielle: well, you're in Paris, so you'll have to let us know if the male fashionistas (fashionistos?) wear them around la belle ville!

Only if he wears a long pastel colored sweater, thank you very much.

I was wondering why I was gettin all these hits from searches for "tights"

Oh. My. God. I am otherwise speechless.

3carnations:... and knows all the words and dance moves to "Wake Me Up" by Wham!, right?

julie_gong: Now you know. Sometimes, I think we're better off NOT knowing, though. ??

lizgwiz: I don't know if I could remain speechless if this trend ACTUALLY takes off. Gah!

that is so very very very very unattractive. *shudders*

What can I say that hasn't been said already? I'll just repeat - WRONG, eeeewwww, NO, NO, NO, NO. Anybody else think it looks like he's wearing clown shoes? Really, skinny legs in tights and great big clown shoes. So unsexy.

don't call me MA'AM said...

paisley: does much else need to be said? I don't think so. You hit the nail on the head!

David: thank you... you're not a spammer, are you? You don't sound like a spamemr. :-)

ludi: that's exactly my first reaction to the picture!

sparkling: YES! The whole outfit is wrong on so many levels... but I did think the shoes and no socks (although, would he have worn scrunchy, shruggy socks like in the 80s?) looked so odd!

I vote a resounding NO!

As a child I was fascinated by the bulge in David Bowie's leggings on the movie Labyranth... like a car crash, horrible but you can't look away.
