1. Best speech- Kunio Kato, winner of best short film (animated), La maison en petit cubes- "Domo origato, Mr. Roboto!"
2. Best award presenter- Ben Stiller
3. Biggest disappointment- not enough Hugh! Great song and dance numbers, but he wasn't on stage nearly enough.

Maybe We Could Just Skip Summer
Could we please be done with severe weather for the "season?" I'm about tornado-ed out.
Meanwhile, I'm also temporarily on vacation and might actually get back to blogging.

Random Musings- last day of April Edition
1. While driving home from work, I passed a kid dressed in a sombrero and poncho, dancing along the street. Teenage boy. DANCING. Like there was no tomorrow. And waving a sign about 99 cent tacos. Apparently, working at Taco Johns makes you really happy. Or really insane.
2. How much does sign waving in front of stores/restaurants actually work anyway? Anyone know this answer??
3. I really, really need to learn not to procrastinate. This is going to be one hellacious weekend. Work. Plus more work. Plus studying for a final. Plus writing a 5-6 page case study. All this weekend. Please send me good juju.
That's all for now. Thanks for being you. ;-)
Update: I almost forgot. It's spring. Finally, it's looking like spring too. Here's a couple of shots of the tree in front of my house that is FINALLY blooming!

No Foolin'...
Rats. I didn't fool anyone yesterday with my post. Was I maybe just a BIT too obvious? ;-)
My annual fool on the Farm Boy didn't work either... I either call, email, or text him that "Oops! I'm pregnant."
His first response yesterday? "Woo hoo!"
That is simply not a good response.* Maybe I need a new fool for next year. ** Any suggestions?
*Our youngest of four is almost fifteen years old. Our mantra for the past 5 years has been NO BABIES. We're almost empty nesters!!!
**Part of the fun of having the same fool every year is awaiting his response. He's pretty creative, and usually quite funny.

Three Wishes... Blink Blink!
Dear Genie,
Here are my three wishes:
1) I would like a new job. One that allows me to telecommute from home, is around 4-6 hours a day, and affords me enough time to HAVE A LIFE.
2) I would like either a) a live-in maid, or b) the energy and desire to clean my home. It's pathetic. No, really. You wouldn't even want to walk past the foyer. Trust me. If I can't have A or B, could you maybe just pop in every day and BLINK it clean for me? Thanks.
3) World Peace.
Thanks. I put that last one in there just so I wouldn't seem like a total selfish pig. And maybe that would put me in your good graces, so that you would give me the first two wishes. Pretty Please?

Yep... Still Busy.
So, for your listening/viewing enjoyment:
I know. It has nothing to do with Halloween, but since I'm drowning in Baroque music history, I just have to share.

Reach Out, Reach Out and Touch Someone... but not literally.
Ever since our class reunion this past weekend, I've been thinking about what a crappy job I do at staying in touch with people. Yes, our family is crazy busy with a million little things... but it makes me really sad that there are so many people I've just "lost." Even worse, many of those people live relatively close to me.
I pride myself at how well I manage email, how quickly I respond to people at work... but my personal email is turning into nothing but adverts and subscriptions. BORING. But why would I expect to RECEIVE emails if I rarely INITIATE them?
So here is my August resolution (I can have a resolution in August... I don't have to wait for New Year's, because I'm just cool that way!):
* I resolve to keep in contact with friends via email, via blog, whatever it takes. There's no excuse for me to go for more than a week without blogging.
* For my truly, close friends, I resolve to call at least once a week.
* For my friends who are separated by distance, I resolve to email at least once a month.
That should be a good start, don't you think?
What about you? Do you have a knack for staying in touch with your friends, old and new?

We Partied Like It Was 1987... but not really.
The reunion was fun... the informal night was better than the formal night, but that's to be expected. Saw a lot of people I hoped would come. Learned that I don't look as old as I think I do. I suppose that's a good thing. The Farm Boy was a total trooper. I owe him big time.
Quick quiz!
While at the reunion, I learned that one of my former classmates is now a(n):
a) doctor
b) lawyer
c) teacher
d) famous adult web site star
e) all of the above
Yep... lots of talent in our class, I must say.
And a question for you... is it completely narcissistic of me to be more thrilled that I had a good hair day for the dinner/dance than I was in reconnecting with some old friends??? Yeah? I thought so, too. So, umm... I guess I wasn't actually more thrilled about the hair, but it was a close second. ;-)
That's all I have... it was okay and fun at times, but nothing much really to post about.

Is This A Sign???
My lucky bamboo plant is dying. The same plant that I've had for over three years and which has grown and flourished. It used to look like this.
Now it looks more like this:

I am sad. :-(

35 More Days...
In thirty-six more days, I'll be normal again. That seems like a long time from now, actually.
However, there ARE things to celebrate:
1. Grad class = OVER. Won't know my grade for a while...but stick a fork in it, I'm DONE. For this semester anyway.
2. Daughter #1 performed admirably in this past week's district music contest. I'm so proud!
3. Daughter #2 survived a church camp retreat this past weekend. She came home sunburnt, a little scratched up, and very tired... but in one piece.
4. I did not turn into Daffy Duck, nor did I curl up into a fetal position and drool excessively.
5. I can fit into all my old summer clothes that I haven't been able to wear for about three years. They're not exactly in style, but I'm a FRUMP, right? Who cares! My skinny clothes fit! SUPER W00T!!!
6. I might actually have a little time to read blogs this week! I miss you all a lot!
Life is good. Busy, but good. :-)

A Wee Little Break...
Okay, so I lied. Not intentionally, of course! I didn't post a Weekend Why Files. I do have some pictures ready to post, and I have some store items ready to add... but no time to actually do it.
With life being so incredibly busy right now, I need to focus my priorities on my family. I love blogging, and I love reading what you all write... but I need to take a short hiatus. Maybe just a few days will get me back on track.
This week is Spring Break. We'll be taking another short road trip, and we'll be playing catch-up when we return. Also, I really need to dig into the mess that I think is my home. At least, I'm pretty sure it's a house. It's just embarrassing how cluttered and messy everything is. You could probably write your name in the dust on my glass table in our living room. Pathetic.
OH! and if you like a good tear-fest, go see Reign Over Me. Good thing I had kleenex in my purse! It's not a chick flick... the Farm Boy really liked it, too. I don't know if I can write this without sounding condescending, but I'm really proud of Adam Sandler. This is his best work since Punch Drunk Love, and I think this one is better.
Catch ya later.

Coffee Talk with DCMM
BEYOND busy right now. Hope to be back soon... besides, my Google Reader is going to explode with the number of unread posts I have right now.
In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic.
"The Partridge Family was neither a partridge nor a family." Discuss.

Long Time No Blog...
Got the flu. Out two days. Felt better today, but then had to go to a funeral.
Doesn't leave much time for blogging.
Hope to be back tomorrow. :-)

Wuv, Twue Wuv, Will Fowwow You Fowevah...
Most women in my generation will admit to being programmed about love. As young girls, Disney taught us that our handsome prince would one day sweep us off our feet, away from wicked step-mothers or evil witches, to live happily ever after in the castle of our choice. And a lot of us waited for that prince.
I’d like to think I found one. The Farm Boy is a pretty good guy… his nickname comes from the Princess Bride, and he often calls me “Buttercup” and tells me, “As you wish.” Sounds like true love, yes?
However, I think the one creature on this planet who loves me more than any other is… my dog. Ask my husband if I’m the love of his life, he might crack some joke or say that we haven’t been married long enough to truly know. Take one look at my little Chihuahua, and you’ll know. I am the love of HIS life.
Pathetic, isn’t it?
Daughter #1: Mom! Seriously! Look at that dog! He’s just sitting there waiting for you to look at him. He’s patiently waiting for you to sit down on the bed with him so he can snuggle with you!
[on phone with boyfriend]: Dude, that dog LOVES my mom. Seriously. I mean, he worships her.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, during the day when we’re not home, he’s home building shrines to her.
[in the Taco Bell Chihuahua voice]: “Oh, Yo Quiero The Mommy! Ohhhhh!”
I guess I’ll take what I can get. :-)
On a completely unrelated note… I gave up the queen mother dirty word for Lent. I’ve already broken that promise twice… in less than 24 hours. Gah. What exactly is the penalty for that??
