Am I Insane or Interminably Honest?

In the parking garage at our hotel this past weekend, I found a $5 bill on the ground right in front of the elevators. I looked around to see if anyone had dropped it, but no one was there.

For a few minutes when we stepped inside, I seriously considered stopping at the front desk to see if anyone had lost some money. FIVE dollars. At a three-four star hotel (depending upon whom you ask)... I was going to turn in five dollars. Farm Boy just looked at me like I was nuts.

I kept it, but I still felt badly about it.

What is WRONG with me!?!?

Five dollars in a parking garage? I'd probably keep that. Depends on where, and the amount. Hubby found $100 on the floor at the veterinarian's office. He gave it to the receptionist; she said they would hold it for a day to see if someone came back for it. They did come back for it. As a reward, the vet's office gave us 6 month's worth of heartworm preventative.

I did the same thing once with a pen.

A bic pen.

And an elevator full of men in suits.

(oops, I meant IN an elevator.)

And they all looked at me like I was insane.

I would have done the same thing: kept it but felt guilty. You're just a nice person!

lizgwiz: I know. I'm terribly sorry. Forgive me? ;-)

stinkypaw: in some ways, yes. In others... I'm a TERRIBLE liar. haha

3carnations: I would have done the same thing as your husband. I guess I believe in karma too much to not do the right thing.

metalia: ha! that's a good one! I was just in a workshop with a woman who is obsessed with her pens... so she would have done absolutely the same thing!

-r-: well, I have YOU fooled, don't I? haha -- hey! when are you coming back this way? we should find a time to play a little Guitar Hero, eh?

Better to hand it in than later find out it belogned to an unempolyed, three-legged puppy. Imagine those eyes looking up at you! Guilt City.

Of course the puppy can't talk so there's no risk of him telling anyone, is there. Hey, free fiver!

I would have wanted to turn it in too, you nice person, you.

wire: I would never steal from a puppy. Now I hope there were no puppies around! ;-)

goldennib: shhh.... you'll ruin my reputation as a grump. haha
