A Lesson In Vanity...

I'm doing it. Tomorrow, I'm cutting my hair.

You have to understand the love/hate relationship I have with my hair. Every other month or so, I have a good hair day... and that's when I love my hair. The other 359 days of the year... I really hate my hair. HATE. IT. With the passion of a thousand suns.

As I've noted before, I have a really large head and a round-ish face. To counteract the big-ness and round-ness, volume at the top is extremely important. However, even though I have a lot of hair, it's extremely fine. "Fine" and "Volume" are not friends. And although I have become a master at backcombing and teasing when necessary, I'd rather not walk the earth sporting a bouffant hairstyle.

So, here's the BEFORE picture. Have I mentioned how much I love my MacBook Pro with built-in camera?

It's longer than it's been in a while. Probably too long. [note that I am not saying "too long for someone my age," because I'm in huge denial. Huge.]

Tomorrow, I'll try to post the AFTER. I'm still not even entirely sure what style I'll be going for with my stylist... I just know it will be significantly shorter. AND... then I'll have weeks and weeks worth of posts about how much I hate my new hair... how I can't wait until it grows out... blah, blah, blah-dee blah.

There is no reason to have mom hair no matter what age you are. And those bangs look f-i-e-r-c-e!

A good trim never hurts anyone and I'm sure you'll look great anyway! With a purple face like that everything will suit you! Can't wait to see the new do!

julie: yeah, I'm too vain anyway for Mom hair. And as I sit here, I know I'll probably chicken out. We'll see. ;-) Thanks!

stinkypaw: yes, the purple complexion makes everything look super awesome, yes? haha

Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! If your hair looks that great on a rectangular purple face, you can pull anything off. Your stylist must be great! I understand when you say you have bad hair days all the time. My hair tends to do it's own thing at random times. The hair style that I'm going for is a style I saw from "Shear Genius". Have you seen or heard of that show before? It's airs on Bravo every Wednesday at 10pm and it's interesting to see all these hair styles that come out. Right now, they're giving away an ultimate make-over, I know because I work for this company. Check out http://condenast.eprize.net/alluresheargenius/?affiliate_id=1d. Good Luck!!!

Oooh, I love your hair. Fantastic bangs. That written, I am all about the bob. Not-even-chin-length-bob.

And you so do not have a big head.

I thought that your hair looked great in person, but I am also a fan of big changes. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Also, I love your necklace.

there's a proper length to age ratio now? Doesn't that mean the babies should have hair down to their feet and old people should be bald?

I am so sorry you have to endure this trauma, but it is a blog goldmine. Always think of the positive.

Sure, wire, the older i get he balder I become. I moult therefore i am.

But maybe that's a boy thing.

i agree with anon - DCMM's hair looks great- as far as one can tell on a purple rectangle.

Still change is good.

Will the rectangle change colour too?

I spent three+ hours in the chair yesterday getting cut and color. Whew - what a burden. I was exhausted when it was over and could've gone for a nap.

Hair design is hard.

Looking forward to an updated photo.

Your hair looks good to me.

anon: I wish I knew who you were... but thanks. And yes, I love Shear Genius!

jn: that picture represents a really, really good hair day. It hardly ever looks like that. ;-) I went with a modified shag this time... it's not really all that different, I guess. But I kept the bangs, of course!

-r-: I'll probably have to wait for another good hair day to take the new picture. haha And thanks... I love that necklace too!

wire: yes, that's exactly what it means. :-0

goldennib: yes, my life is such a drama, isn't it? ;-)

revvie: no, the rectangle did not change color... I like my purple complexion just the way it is! And you're not moulting! Your hair just decided to grow on your jawline instead of the top of your head. It all evens out!

alyssa: I breathed in the fumes a little when she was pulling foils off... yikes! I started choking so bad, it was embarrassing. The lengths we go to look good, huh?

goldennib: kind of chickened out... but it does look different. Darker, too. More like my natural hair color. Yay! I'll post later!

rhea: thanks, but it rarely ever looks as good as it did that day. Trust me on that. Glad to see you here!
