"Attention Morning People: Be Perky at Your Peril"*

Have I ever mentioned before that I hate mornings? Have I ever mentioned before that I hate Mondays? (Well, except those Mondays that are holidays. Those are okay). So, there's a double whammy for this morning. Gah.

I need to find a job that allows me to sleep in mornings and stay up later -- to about 2 or 3am. I didn't get to sleep in past 8:00 this entire weekend. Boooo!

I know I've posted before about morning people vs. night owl people (I'm just too lazy to dig back through the archives to find it). I'm going to say this again: morning people do not "GET" night owl people.

If one more person says to me, "Gee... I just don't understand why anyone would want to sleep in. I spring out of bed, ready to start my day. I'm so excited to have that morning time!"... I will have to throw my morning-wake-me-up-green-tea at them.

I respect that you love mornings. Please respect that I don't.

*This is printed on my new coffee/tea cup that I purchased at Hallmark this weekend. I'd say it fits me pretty well.

I'm so like you and my husband even worst - we just don't do mornings and being our own boss we kind of make our own schedules and for me, that IS the best part! I work better at night than early mornings, but our society is geared for those "early birds" - gah! is right!

Here's a poem a friend sent us, he couldn't help but to think of us when he read it:

I woke early one morning,
The earth lay cool and still
When suddenly a tiny bird
Perched on my window sill.

He sang a song so lovely
so carefree and so gay'
That slowly all my troubles
Began to slip away.

He sang of far off places
of laughter and of fun,
It seemed his very trilling,
brought up the morning sun.

I stirred beneath the covers
Crept slowly out of bed,
then gently shut the window
And crushed his fucking head.

I'm not a morning person...

Is it possible to be both and early bird and a night owl?

I've successfully been living the past 6 or so years of my life surviving on about 3 solid hours of sleep a night. And yet, I still always wake up at about 7:30 in the morning.

I don't think I'm either really. I love sleeping period. I can't wake up early. I can't stay up real late. Is there a term for that besides freak?

I am both a night owl and a morning person, but I am not the sort of morning person that you would want to punch in the dick.

I get up and am up. Even if I have only had four hours of sleep and know that I will not get to sleep until late...in fact I get down right punchy at night when I haven't had much sleep.

I go to sleep now.

That is fantastic! Can I Just echo everything you've just said! I am so on your side! You spoke my mind. How else can I convey that I totally get where you're comign from, and that's actually exactly where I'm coming from too. Mornings suck. DCMM, I think we may be soul mates...

stinkypaw: I have seen that poem before, but completely forgotten about it! Thanks for sending it on!

hannah: if I could sleep to 8:30 every morning, I'd be happy camper. But because I can't, I now fall asleep around 9 or 10 every night and feel like a total pansy. ;-)

julie: no, it doesn't make you a freak. Sleep=awesome.

libragirl: I love afternoons... WHEN I get to sleep in. Otherwise, I'm with you. That's my crash and burn time, too.

jaek: I would never punch you in the dick. Promise. ;-P

ludi: I think we are, too!

Not to rub it in your face, but it is 10:55am and I just woke up. No class, no kids, no worries today.

I get you! I totally get you. My husband is on afternoons so he doesn't get home until midnight. Then got to wind down with some TV so it is 2:00 or 3:00 before bedtime. Get up time is around 10:00am IF it is a good sleep night. Usually I am awake about 5:00am and go outside to enjoy the sky panorama (gawd it is gorgeous!) but then I snuggle back in my covers for a few more hours.

People act disgusted at our rise time, but then they don't take into consideration or bed time, either.

I have always been a night owl so it is nice that my husband's work schedule accommodates me!

Jaek inherited his night owlishness (I doubt if that is a word but it works for me) from me and his ability to get up in the morning when necessary. BUT he didn't say how many times he pounded the snooze button, did he?

We should be allowed to hurt people like that, but around three in the afternoon, when we're fully awake.

I think I've just realized that I am neither a morning person or a night owl... I'm just cranky all the time. What the ?!? (Hmm, maybe it's the fact that I just don't get enough sleep, period, that's doing me in?)
