Fall, Mouth Ulcers, Creepy Baristas, and Doggie Jealousy...

Ah... too much to tell about the last few days, so four mini-posts will have to do today.

1. I love Fall. Yes, I've mentioned it many times before, and it's usually due to the fabulous temperatures (cooler weather) and beautiful colors. But it's also for the clothes. My favorite 'uniform' is jeans and a sweater. Or, if I'm dressing down more, jeans and a sweatshirt. Comfy=good.

In the last two days, I have been 'complimented' on my outfits, each time leading to a "Have you lost weight?" Well, no, I don't think I have. There was that bout with the stomach flu last week, but no. I have not lost a substantial amount of weight. HOWEVER, with cooler weather comes longer pants as well as structured jackets. With longer pants come higher-heeled shoes. Therefore, with the arrival of fall weather comes the illusion of a slimmer figure. Yay, Fall!

2. I bit the left side of my cheek a couple of days ago. Ouchie. I bit it HARD. And I bit it hard enough that it has become swollen... so I continue to keep biting it. Now, a canker sore (aka mouth ulcer) is developing, which means everything I eat or drink produces mind-searing pain. So, I bought this mouth sore gel tonight called Zilactin-B. It works pretty well, but I have to tell you... in order to get to 6 hours pain-free, you have to endure 30 seconds of sheer torture (read here: feeling like a hole is burning through your cheek). Eh.

3. What is it with coffee barista people? They are so freaking friendly. Not like, "Hi. Have a nice day with your coffee/tea" friendly. I mean, "Hi, I really hope you enjoy your skinny latte while I wink at you and give you a look that will make you feel like I'm trying to seduce you but really that's just how I roll" friendly. It's just this side of being utterly creepy.

4. Diego was jealous that Paco was the star of the last post, so I have to show you how cute and adorable he is. He's also a total mama's boy who sits and stares at me the minute I get home, because he wants to go to bed already. He won't stop staring at me until I actually sit down on the bed so that he can then snuggle under the comforter and plaster himself to my right side. Unfortunately, Blogger is being a pain in the ass, and I can't upload his photo. :-( Maybe later...

I think items 1 and 3 are connected. Your hot fall items are causing all baristas to want to semi-seduce you.

Can you buy that mouth gel at the store or do you have to special order it? My husband constantly has canker sores. He's got a NASTY one right now that is killing him.

I agree with R. You must just be irresistable. :)

-r-: nah, he gave a similar look and smile to the 70-something lady in front of me, and the middle-aged guy before her. See what I mean by creepy? ;-)

pais: I bought that gel at my grocery store, and I know they carry it at most drug stores, too.

As for being irresistible, note my response to -r-. Nothin' doin'. haha

About: "coffee barista people"

YES! And they do it regardless of gender. Petros at our local cafe - shouts loudly to returning custmers like his long lost brother is returning! And he winks!

And butchers , down here, they call everyone 'love' and 'darling' and are all large smiling guys who make father christmas look anorexically sullen! They all wear disconcertingly blue aprons but carry huge bloodied knifes in their extremely hairy paws: "How can I help ya' luv?"

rev: right then. Mental note... never go to butcher shop in Australia. Got it. ;-)

libra: ouch! I can't touch a canker sore with my tongue. It just hurts too much. Grumpy=wuss.

You know my take on fall. I love love love it!

Besides biting your cheek and mouth ulcers burning your tongue might be the worst pain evah.

There's nothing worst then having some "bobos" (read it in French, couldn't think of the English word...) in your mouth, and they always feel so huge and for some reason once we bite the inside of our cheek we always seem to bite it again real... it sucks hope you heal well & fast!

Can't wait to see Diego - he has every right to feel jealous, poor thing! I wonder if he enjoys fall as much as you do, 'cause looking at my pooch right now, she's shivering and I'm enjoying this beautiful fall day...

BTW, enjoy the attention you're getting, no matter where it comes from, it will make up for the days when you really feel grumpy frump! ;-)

Have you tried Cankaid? it numbs the whole area. Canker sores and that weird feeling when one taste bud gets irritated are two of the most annoying pains to deal with.
I agree about Fall. I think that most people look best in layers. Plus, is there anything more fun than pumpkin anything?

julie_gong: Ack... burning the tongue sucks because it LASTS forever!

stinkypaw: hopefully, I'll be able to post his pic soon! He's getting impatient with me. haha

margaret ann: I have tried Cankaid before, but I haven't seen it around here for a long time. It pretty much does the same thing as this Zilactin stuff I think. Ah... and pumpkin. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin... ;-)
