Time, time, time... see what's become of me?*

I'm not a clockwatcher, per se. I usually go about the things I do on a daily basis, only somewhat aware of what time it is.

Now, if I'm working and have several meetings or the like scheduled throughout the day... then I'm very cognizant of the time. While I'm home on vacation, though, not so much.

Something very odd has happened, though, while I've been home. The first few days, I didn't even think much of it. But now? It's starting to really freak me out.

While I'm at work, I have a routine that I follow, so I do find myself looking at the clock around the same times of the day. At home, every day has been a little bit different, so there has been no routine to follow.

What's the odd 'thing,' then? Nearly everyday, I find myself looking at the clock when it is exactly 11:11. Some days, it's 11:11am. Some nights, it's 11:11pm. The first couple of times I noticed it, I mentioned to the Farm Boy, "Hey! Look, it's 11:11!" (it's the little things that keep our marriage hot, hot, HOT! hahaha)

Ordinarily, I wouldn't give this more than a second thought, but like I said before... it's starting to freak me out. Please understand, I'm not sitting around WAITING for the clock to turn 11:11. I might be reading, or walking through the house from one room to another, or watching TV with Farm Boy. I'll glance at the clock, and HOLY COW! It's 11:11 again. Yesterday, it happened again when it was 11:11pm, and I told him how much it was starting to creep me out... he just laughed.

I know. Some of you are like, "Hmmm. Maybe if she actually DID something, she wouldn't be looking for things to seem creepy." But I PROMISE... I have been striving to do something every day outside of sleeping in all morning and then eating bonbons** (with marshmallow fluff, ha!) while watching bad daytime TV.

I'm not trying to interpret it or anything. Now, if something nutty happens... like my flight number next week is 1111 or something kooky like that... I might literally fall over in the airport.

Has anything happened like this to any of you? Please share.

*Some of my favorite lyrics of all time...
"Ahhh, seasons change with the scenery, Weaving time in a tapestry, Wont you stop and remember me"

**I don't really eat bonbons. That was just my mom's sarcastic phrase for what she'd been doing all day as a stay-at-home mom when my dad came home from work asking her what she had accomplished. hee hee

Aah Simon and GFunk.

One of my favorites lyrics of all time may be "Mama pajama rolled outta bed and went to the police station..."

Plus, the phrase "per se" has always been a stumbling block for me, as I always try to say it as "purse."

When I was stationed at Ft. Campbell (The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)), I used to find myself noticing the time at exactly 1:01. Then, one day, I was riding a bus from Ft. Campbell to my parents' house. I looked up from my book (I was on page 101), saw a sign that said "Elizabethtown 101mi." (the same Etown as in the movie of the same name), saw the mile marker that read "mile 101" and glanced at my watch to see that it was 1:01pm. I am not making any of that up. I told Wife (then Girlfriend/Fiancee) about it and it has since become our little inside joke.

"Look...it's 1:01! Ha!"
"Yeah...Ha!"

That used to happen to me with 9:11, which weirded me out, for obvious reasons. Then it stopped. No idea what that stuff is about. Sometimes I wonder if once you start noticing it, it becomes something you subconsciously continue... almost how, if you sleep through your alarm, you still wake up, no matter how tired you are, because your internal clock somehow knows what's up.

Jaek, that's... unbelievable!

hannah: funneee! purse. I'm still laughing. Good to see you around again!

jaek: it's a little freaky, isn't it!?!? I was born on Jan. 7 at 1:07am. Hmmm...

red: that's what I'm guessing, but you know me. Something paranormal would be cool, although most likely out of the question. haha!

I always catch the clock at 10:26 AM or PM. It's my birthday, Oct. 26.

Any significance to Nov. 11?

I catch the clock on my birthday date time, too, a lot. And I've actually thought about this: My birthday's in November, so 11. 11 is one of those rare hours you're up for both the a.m. and p.m. of it. So that's half the battle.

The other thing: Check out the song "11:11" by Rufus Wainwright.

Another notable number conundrum...

My luck number is 7. Wore that through all sports in high school/college, etc...

This year I began a new job.

On February 7. Located at 770 ___ Street. On the 7th Floor.

melissa: both my dad and sister have b-days in November, but not on the 11th. Weird, huh?

maliavale: I think that's exactly it... especially lately. I'm not always up at 8 or 9 (or 10!) am. haha I like the Wainwright lyrics, but I didn't know that particular song. (I likes the Rufus, though)

hannah: 7 is mine, too... and that new job thing would definitely weird me out a lot!

Yes, this same thing has happened to me since I was in high school (11 years ago), accept with the number 52 in the time. It still happens to me all the time and I'm just used to it by now. Weird though.

My father's unit in the Army at the time of my birth (8:14am) was the 814.

A man pulls in his driveway after a day at work. There's toilet paper draped in the tree two of his kids are climbing. The sprinkler in the yard is flooding the garden. The dog is running in and out of the open front door of his house. He goes in the house calling for his wife. There's no answer. He goes through the kitchen that has cereal and peanut butter and jelly all over the counters and floors, calling his wife's name. Still there is no answer. Now, he is really worried. Where is his wife? What has happened to his normally clean and organized house? Has there been a robbery? He enters the livingroom that is strewn with clothes and toys. And there on the couch reading a book is his wife. He is shocked and flabbergasted. He asks her,"Honey, what have you done all day."
"Nothing," she replies.

my youngest son also had this happen with 9:11 (am or pm), and it freaked him out. I convinced him that he was just noticing that time because it already meant something to him. Mostly because I wanted him to stop freaking out. My husband has "numbers" - they are in nearly every important date or number assigned to him. He feels funny for not playing the lottery, lol. We live in fear of seeing those darn numbers plastered on the screen under the heading "no one won the 50 million dollar lottery saturday..."

jeni: cool. And... 5+2=7, so maybe you have something in common with hannah. ;-)

hannah: yes, you were. That's eerie.

goldennib: I love that story! Of course, that's how my house always looks, but hey. I usually work outside the home. We keep talking about getting someone to come clean once a week, but eh.

tammara: THAT would definitely piss me off! If I had a certain set of numbers that always popped up here and there, I would have to play the lottery. However, since I'm not sure of the significance of 11:11, I don't know that I would waste my dollars on that.

When you win the 50 million, though, send me a plane ticket so I can come party with you. :-)

This hasn't happened to me that I recall, but I do have a very uncanny knack for needing to desperately go to the bathroom at the EXACT moment every night that the cleaning people at work are in there. It's a little weird.

I have this stupid thing about wanting to see the clock when it's a palindromic number. I don't know why. Especially 8:08 coz it spells Bob. I'm so odd.

nabbalicious: maybe THEY are stalking YOU. ;-)

ludi: I like 5:05, because it's SOS... which is what I feel like screaming all day long. haha

Oh no! Now I have another one! Noooooo! You shouldn't have told me that!
